New biomaterials recyclability

Nov 18, 2019

A circular economy, recyclability and the reduction of plastics are current themes related to the transformation of the biomaterial industry. New materials have to be environmentally-friendly and moreover preferably biodegradable too. During the product development phase of new biomaterials, also recyclability of the materials and further utilization of the recycled based materials should be considered.

There are only a few standard methods for testing recyclability of fiber-based materials. KCL Laboratory continuously develops and introduces innovative testing methods to be ahead of the curve. Additional new in-house procedures complement the standard methods available.

We have several methods from small scale 25 g up to larger scales of 1.5 kg. Moreover, at KCL we also test possible stickiness of the recycled fibers.

We support our customers in planning the lab trial when new materials need to be tested for recyclability. We also assess the usability of the recovered material for possible new product development and usage.

You will find more information about our testing procedures and methods at KCL web site or directly contact Eva Sandås to discuss testing of your materials and products.
