Lab-scale Coating and Coating Color Preparation

Our coating laboratory is equipped with a small-scale coating color preparation, a draw down coater with an assortment of rods for coating color metering and a laboratory calander. The laboratory coating services at KCL can be utilized for various projects, e.g. preparation for a full-scale trial or screening of different coating chemicals.

The water retention, pH, rheology and surface tension of coating colors are critical for successful coating applications coupled with the desired end-quality. KCL’s ACA AX-100 provides you with rheology measurements at very high shear rates. The Krüss Force Tensiometer (K20) at KCL measures the surface tension of coating colors or surface sizes.
