KCL Cellulose nanofibers

Novel bio-based materials

With KCL technology, individual cellulose nanofibers can be extracted from wood-based raw materials.

Our unique portfolio consists of cellulose nanofibers with different surface functionalities; typically featuring either cationic unit, phosphoric acid, or sulphonic acid functionality is attached to the fibers. The diameter is close to 4 nm and length varying from 200nm to several micrometers, giving full optical transparency when dispersed in water.

The KCL CNF can be utilized in several applications, they are forming highly viscous solution in water providing excellent stabilization effect for dispersions. When applied on paper or plastic surfaces, CNF forms highly packed assemblies creating effective barrier structures that, for example, help prevent oxygen diffusion.
