KCL is on the Move – Exciting developments ahead

As many of you already know, KCL is relocating its facility! Our move from Espoo to Lohja, just a 30-minute drive west of our previous site, is well underway.

The transition began in September 2024 with the relocation of laboratory equipment and services, followed by our pilot-scale machines. Several key machinesā€”such as our finishing, printing, and extrusion coating linesā€”are already up and running at the new site. Currently, we are assembling the pilot coating line, which is expected to be operational by mid-March. In the final phase of the move, our biomaterials processing department will be transferred, with equipment installation planned for late spring and summer. We look forward to celebrating the official opening of our new premises in early autumn 2025!

Our new facility is approximately 30% larger than our previous one, offering a much-improved layout for pilot and laboratory-scale operations. This expanded space allows us to enhance our piloting capabilities, providing an even better platform for material development and scale-up. Additionally, our open-space technology concept creates exciting opportunities for collaboration, enabling partners to integrate modular machines into our piloting processes.

We are thrilled about this next chapter in KCLā€™s long history of supporting bio-based industry innovation and the green transition. We canā€™t wait to welcome you to our new home!
